How To Prepare For IELTS Reading and Writing Test- 7 Ways To Help Your Exam
IELTS Reading Preparation:
Reading is one of the most important parts of the IELTS test. The main purpose of this section is to read the passage and check whether we can understand its main parts correctly. It is not possible to do well in this section without understanding the meaning of various sentences and words. Also, the purpose and opinion of the author should be well understood. It applies to two test types: IELTS General Training and IELTS Academic.
Generally, we have a feeling that IELTS Reading is easier than other sections. In fact, one should prepare well for the reading part as well. So let's see how:
1. Know the exam type and timing
To do well in the IELTS Reading section, you must first know the format of the test. This will allow you to know beforehand how the questions will be asked and will increase your confidence.
- You will be given 3 passages with a maximum word count of 2,750.
- Based on this you have to answer 40 questions carrying 1 value each. These questions will be asked from the three reading texts given to you. Therefore, the purpose and opinion of the text should be well understood.
- You will have 60 minutes for the entire reading part. So, 20 minutes can be spent on each text.
2. Know the question type
Apart from the format of the exam, you also need to know the type of questions that will be asked. Come on, let's see.
- Multiple Choice
- Identifying Information
- Sentence Completion
- Identifying the author's views
- Matching Headings
- Table Completion
- Note Completion
- Summary Completion
There are actually more types of questions, but these are the most common. The possibility of having Multiple Choice or Matching Headings is very high. So they should be practiced more.
3. Time management
IELTS test time is very short. Therefore, while practicing this part, how much time can be given to each task or passage, should be carefully considered. Because every minute is very important here. It is best to take some Mock Test of IELTS reading tests at home. You should not only give Mock Test, but you should also manage your time and give it in a standard manner so that you don't face any problems with your time while giving the main exam.
4. Focus more on the questions than the passage!
Many of us spend a lot of time between passages without paying close attention to the questions. This wastes more time trying to understand unnecessary parts of the text and ignores what is really needed.
The trick here is to read the questions first and process what information I need and how to get it. Once this is done then the text should be read.
IELTS Writing Preparation
One of the most difficult parts of the IELTS test is the Writing part. Many of us get confused while preparing for this section, where to start, and how to prepare for it to get a good score in IELTS Writing.

1. Know the test rules for the IELTS writing part
One thing that we often do or don't think about is to check the syllabus or structure of the exam before any exam, be it IELTS or any exam.
The IELTS Academic Writing test has two parts. One has to write a report n a chart or graph and the second part has to write an essay. Of these, the second task takes almost twice as much time.
In the IELTS General Training writing test, the first task is to write a letter instead of a report.
2. Read IELTS Model Essay to do well in IELTS writing

Read various academic reports, or reading tasks, carefully and meaningfully to do well in the IELTS test. Reading them will give you a good idea of what kinds of questions are in the IELTS test and how much you may need to improve from the level you are good at to do well in them.
3. Learn the vocabulary
